Mindful Teaching

Teachers have one of the most, if not the most, important jobs today. You are responsible for educating, nurturing, protecting and raising up our nation’s future generations. This is challenging yet rewarding; tiring yet empowering; and can push your buttons at any given point of the day. Teachers, just like parents, come to the table with their own history as students, children, friends, and of course triggers. A trigger is the moment you have a feeling, either physical or emotional, that takes you out of the present moment and causes you to react in a nonproductive way. Mindful or conscious teaching helps you to become aware of happenings in the classroom and within yourself in a nonjudgmental way. It can also be a way to help you align with the most authentic version of who are meant to be.
